Contact The Word Index
The Word Index is an independent project run by Matt Iles. Questions, corrections, and suggestions are genuinely welcome — correction reports in particular are read first.
Where to Write
Write to hello@thewordindex.com. Please do not include passwords, private word lists, unpublished writing, or other information you would not want retained in ordinary email.
Corrections and Tool Problems
For a factual or spelling correction, include the page URL, the exact passage or result, what you believe should change, and a source we can check if one is available. For a tool problem, include the URL, the input you entered, the result you expected, the result you saw, and your browser or device. A screenshot can help, but it is not required.
A missing word is not automatically an error: different tools use named, bounded source lists. Tell us which tool you used so we can distinguish a software defect from a documented coverage limit. The data sources page records those limits and the methodology page explains how changes are reviewed.
Data, Rights, and Research Questions
Questions about a dataset, licence, attribution, quotation, or permitted reuse should identify the source and the intended use. If you are a researcher or journalist, describe the question you are investigating and the level of detail you need. This helps us answer from the relevant build, manifest, or reproducible study rather than from an unversioned summary.
Responsible Security Reports
For a possible security vulnerability, follow the contact and disclosure guidance in our security.txt. Please avoid accessing other people's information or disrupting the live service while investigating a report.
