About the Rhyme Finder

The Rhyme Finder groups indexed CMUdict pronunciations that share sounds from the final stressed vowel onward. This is the tool's configured perfect-rhyme rule; it does not judge poetic, slant, or dialect-specific rhymes.

How to use it

  1. Type a spelling that has a CMUdict pronunciation in the compiled index.
  2. Rhyming words appear grouped by syllable count for easy scanning.
  3. Use the length filter to narrow results to a specific word length.
  4. Click any result to view its definition and explore further.

Tips

  • Results are grouped by derived syllable count to help compare meter.
  • Higher heuristic tiers appear first; include broader source tiers for more options.
  • Words like "love" and "move" don't rhyme despite similar spelling – this tool uses pronunciation, not letters.
  • Use the exclude field to avoid rhymes containing certain letters.
