Letter Grid Word Finder

Type the letters of any rectangular letter grid (2×2 up to 8×8) and this tool lists every word in our compiled lexicon that can be traced through adjacent cells without reusing a cell — longest words first, with a short gloss where one is recorded. Diagonal adjacency and minimum word length are adjustable.

About the Letter Grid Word Finder

The finder searches our compiled lexicon for words that can be spelled by moving between adjacent grid cells — horizontally, vertically, and (optionally) diagonally — using each cell at most once. It works with any rectangular letter grid from 2×2 to 8×8, so grids from formats such as Boggle, Squaredle, Word Hunt, or Strands-style puzzles fit as input. Results are membership facts about this data build only: the tool does not reproduce any published puzzle's official word list, scoring, or accepted answers.

How to use it

  1. Pick the grid size, then type one letter per cell (typing advances automatically; arrow keys move between cells).
  2. Choose whether diagonal steps count as adjacent and set the minimum word length.
  3. Press “Find words”. Results are ranked longest first, then by the build's commonness band, then alphabetically.
  4. Select any result to highlight one example path through the grid.

Data sources and limitations

  • Words come from the compiled lexicon for data version v1/2026.07-lexical.6, built from the registered sources documented on the data page (for example, a result may be present because it appears in the ENABLE word list — that is a source-membership fact, not validity in any specific game).
  • By default results are limited to the build's common bands; the broader source-list toggle includes every band. Bands are build-specific rankings, not universal usage claims.
  • Very letter-rich grids can exceed the engine's 100,000-word candidate cap; the tool flags this and results may then be incomplete.
  • At most 400 words are listed per solve (the full found count is always shown). Entries flagged by the build's offensive-word list are excluded.
  • Glosses are shown only where the build's definitions data records one.
