Where the glosses come from

Answers are drawn from the rarer ranking bands (tiers 3–4) of data version v1/2026.07-lexical.6; those tiers are build-specific bands, not universal usage claims. Decoy glosses are the real definitions of words spelled or pronounced similarly to the day's word, chosen deterministically from the same corpus — the same date on the same data build always produces the same puzzle. Our glosses are machine-generated, so a word can only appear once an editor has reviewed and approved its definition for this release; unreviewed meanings are never displayed, which is why some dates have no puzzle. Membership in any source list never implies validity in any specific word game.
