About this generator
Lists are built from the retained CMUdict-derived pronunciation records in the current data release (v1/2026.07-lexical.6) and the build's compiled lexicon. Word position (initial, medial, final) and singleton-versus-cluster context are classified against each word's primary pronunciation variant. Short glosses come from this site's own definition records where available.
Limitations
- CMUdict primarily reflects North American English; positions and syllable counts can differ by dialect.
- Words without a pronunciation record never appear, which is a coverage limit, not a claim about the word.
- Frequency bands are ranking bands specific to this build's evidence, not universal usage measurements.
- Candidate scanning is bounded, so very broad selections may be marked as truncated.
- The offensive-word display policy is always applied; there is no unfiltered mode on this page.
